Wilbert Busch, age 92, of New Prague, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Wilbert was born June 4, 1921 in St. Benedict, MN to Florian H. & Elizabeth (Hoffman) Busch. He attended St. Benedict Catholic School and served in the army in Europe during WWII. He married Bernadine A. Forner on Sept. 11, 1951, at Guardian Angels Church in Chaska, MN and the couple made their home in New Prague, where Wilbert worked as a carpenter, building many of the homes in the New Prague area. His favorite pastimes were playing the accordion, watching wrestling, and visiting. During the warmer months, gardening and yard work also filled his days.
Wilbert is survived by 3 daughters, JoAnn (& Michael) O’Brien of Chaska, Marlene (& Donald) Mushitz of New Prague, and Michele (& Bruce) Reimers of New Prague; brothers, Lando (& Gladys) Busch of New Prague, Elgar (& Irene) Busch of New Prague, and Oliver (& Louise) Busch of New Prague; sister, Pauline Krenik of Lonsdale; Sister-in-law, Rose Marie Busch of Waterville. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernadine on August 30, 1999; daughter, Carolyn Ann in infancy; parents; brothers, Harold L. and Edgar Busch; sisters-in-law, Angie Busch & Mary Ann Busch; brother-in-law, Donald Krenik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague with Father Thomas Krenik officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 – 8 PM and Monday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike, Tom, & Dan O ‘Brien, Don, Brian, & Matt Mushitz, and Bruce Reimers. Allyssa & Makayla Reimers will serve as gift bearers. Lunch will follow burial at the KC Hall.
