Warren “Ike” Walter, age 65 of New Prague, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 20, 2012. Ike was born to Harold & Marie (Priebe) Walter on July 17, 1947 in Sebeka, Minnesota. He graduated from Sebeka High School in 1965 and served a 4-year term in the US Navy, having been deployed during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an active member of the New Prague Lutheran Church and belonged to the Sebeka American Legion. In his work career, Ike was employed as a union member for G & K Services, Aconite Corporation, Michels Pipeline Constructions. He retired from Michels in 2009. IN retirement, Ike loved being around his grandsons, playing golf with his many friends, puttering in the yard , and taking numerous “road trips” with his wife.
Ike is survived by his devoted wife, Joan (Slavik), daughters, Kerry (& Kevin) Crooks of Belle Plaine, Bridget Walter of Maple Grove, brothers Nerkub (& Bev) of Tulsa, OK, sister, Donna Walater of Sebeka, MN, grandson Paul, Sean, and Nolan; sisters-in-law, Mary Anne (& Gene) Aufderhar of Le Sueur, Betty (& George) Pomije of Montgomery, Carol Jaenisch of Mankato, Patty (& Jim) Palm of Le Center, and a brother-in-law Mike (& Ann) Slavik of New Prague. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Ike’s life will beheld at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with visitation one hour before. A luncheon sill be served at the New Prague Golf Club immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers to direct any memorials to various needs in our community.
