Vic Mushitz, age 91, of the New Market area, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Vic was born July 15, 1923 in Geddes, South Dakota to George and Mary (Klein) Mushitz. He attended Geddes Catholic School and graduated from Geddes High School. Vic married Beatrice H. Pavlis on May 25, 1945 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Geddes and the couple moved to Minnesota in 1953, where he established the family farm. Vic was a farmer his entire life until retiring in 1991. He was a member of NFO, a member and former board member of the Scott County Soil and Water Board, and a member of the St. Catherine Cemetery Board. Vic loved to travel and play cards; he enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, and wintering in Texas.
Vic is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Jordan; children, Dick (& Evie) Mushitz of Elko New Market, Ken (& Ann) Mushitz of New Prague, Kathy (& Tom) Moore of Arlington, TX, Don (& Marlene) Mushitz of New Prague, Deb (& Tim) Lohman of Austin, TX; Sister, Georgean Jaeger of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Helen Mushitz of Geddes, SD; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Irene Borghorst, Josephine Westendorf, Ed Mushitz, Verna Lenzer, Urban Mushitz, Romus Mushitz, Leo Mushitz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church in rural Prior Lake with Father Orlando Tatel officiating. Visitation will take place Friday from 4 – 7 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:15 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at the church cemetery followed by lunch at the St. Patrick Social hall.
