Thomas J. Shaughnessy, age 87, of New Prague, died peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Tom was born on the family farm in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County, MN on December 28, 1932 to Thomas J. and Evelyn (Hallinan) Shaughnessy.  He attended St. Thomas Country School and Le Sueur High School.  Trucking and farming defined Tom's life and saw him working for numerous trucking firms over the years.  A man of simple means, Tom had a generous nature and he was always the first to help someone in need.  He loved old time and country music and KCHK could be heard softly playing even in the overnight hours.  He entertained many with his accomplished mastery of the accordion and guitar.  His gentle Irish nature will be missed by his family and caretakers.

Tom is survived by his sister, Anna Mae Witt of New Prague; nephews & niece, Dr. Tom (Elizabeth) Witt, Dr. Terry (Elizabeth) Witt, Mary (Ron) Rynda; 8 great-nieces & great-nephews and their children.  He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Patrick.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Cemetery in St. Thomas, MN with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  All are welcome; masks and social distancing are required.
