Teresa R. Wenzel, age 100, of New Prague, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at The Lodge on Natchez in Elko. Teresa was born March 20, 1911 in Burlington, IL to Michael & Bridget (O’Leary) Ormond. She was raised in Burlington, IL, attending country school and completing high school. She married David V. Wenzel, Sr. in Lombard, IL on Nov. 25, 1933. After living in St. Paul for 61 years, Teresa moved to New Prague to be closer to family. She worked for Montgomery Wards for 54 years (until age 85!) when Montgomery Wards closed its doors for good! An avid card player, she was known as a “500 Sharpie”! She loved traveling to Calif. to see her family living there. Teresa is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen (& John) Fjeldstad and Mary Palma; sister, Rita Butts; 11 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 16, 1956, son, David V. Wenzel, Jr., 2 grandsons, Tom & Peter Fjeldstad; 1 brother, Vincent Ormond, and 2 sisters, Ellen Wolff & Lenora Birsen. Mass of Christian Burial for Teresa will be Friday, Jan. 13th at 2 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior to Mass. Burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
