Steve Bennett, age 48, of New Prague, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System New Prague after a 2-year courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born August 6, 1965 in Minneapolis to Henry J. & Darlene N. (Fleischman) Bennett. He was raised in the St. Patrick area, attending New Prague Public Schools and Hennepin Technical College. He married Deb Rynda on January 27, 2011 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Steve worked as an engineering technician for the city of Northfield. An enthusiast of snowmobiling, Steve was a member of the New Prague Snow Drifters. He also loved motorcycling, camping, and woodworking but especially loved spending time with his family; he truly enjoyed life!
Steve is survived by his wife, Deb Bennett of New Prague; children, Wade, Wes, and Libby Bennett all of New Prague; Step-Parents, Gary Goetten & Jana Gould of Apple Valley; Mother-in-Law, Pat Rynda of New Prague; sister, Penny (& Ray) Hrabe of New Prague; step-sisters, Monica (& Eric) Aurand of Iowa, Melanie (& Mike) Klingberg of Prior Lake; step-brother, Matt (& Gretchen) Goetten of Rochester. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Darlene (Fleischman) Bennett; father-in-law, Bob Rynda.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the KC Hall in New Prague with Deacon Bob Wagner officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and Thursday morning from 10 – 11 AM at the KC Hall. Lunch will be served at the KC Hall immediately after the service.
