Ruth E. Giesen, age 69, of New Prague, died peacefully Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Mayo Clinc Health System Hospital Mankato.  Ruth was born on June 25, 1950 in New Prague to Arthur and Eleanor (Moriarity) Siemon.  She graduated from New Prague High School and attained her LPN degree from Miller Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked for multiple health care facilities and home health care.  Ruth married the love of her life, Donald J. Giesen on September 27, 1969 at St. John Catholic Church in Union Hill.  Above all, Ruth was a woman of deep faith.  She was involved in her church with the Council of Catholic Women, the church choir, and the quilting group.  She attended daily mass, had a devotion to the rosary, and enjoyed reading all books but especially religious.  She was dedicated to her family and could never get enough time with them.  Her love of cooking always resulted in enough food to feed her family and then some.  She enjoyed family camping trips, card games, and especially watching her grandchildren's athletic activities and events.  Every member of her family received a quilt, lovingly made by Ruth.  Finally, she had a favorite furry companion, her dog, Abby, who was even able to get in on the Face Time that they were able to have in her final days at the hospital.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Don; son, Don (Lisa) Giesen of New Prague; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Hoffman of Mankato, Megan Giesen of New Prague, Amanda Giesen of New Prague, Nick Giesen of New Prague; great-grandson, Landon; sisters, Jeanette (Marv) Peters, Jean (Le Roy) Geiger, Mary Cavanaugh, Dorothy (Gene) Tupy all of New Prague; sister-in-law, Judy Siemon of New Prague.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Siemon.

Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church in Union Hill.  The Mass will be live-streamed on npcatholic.org.  Burial will be held at St. John Cemetery.
