Obituary

Ruth Rose Bastyr, age 92, of New Prague, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at her home.  Ruth was born to Gus & Helen (Dittman) Glander in Arlington, MN on Sept. 26, 1919.  She was raised in Arlington, lived in Gaylord for 25 years, before settling in Jordan, and finally New Prague.  Ruth married George Bastyr on December 7, 1966 in Mankato.  Her occupations included working in the egg industry for Dan Tikalsky of New Prague, Minnetonka Eggs, and Crystal Farms in Gaylord; she was also a waitress at Wampach’s Restaurant in Shakopee and did house cleaning in Edina.

Ruth is survived by her husband, George, 2 sons, Myron (& Sandy) Hahn, Howard Hahn, daughter, Darlin (& John) Tobeck, sister-in-law, Marvel Glander, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Christine Hahn, and brother, Leroy Glander.

Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at Bruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Mark Bents of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of New Prague officiating.  Visitation will occur Thursday from 4 – 8  PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 11:00 AMat the funeral home.  Burial will occur Friday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington.
