Roy was born in 1961 to Roy and Joanne Larson. He was raised in Shoreview, MN where he developed a passion for football, fishing, and Rock'n'roll, and he graduated from Moundsview High in 1979. In 1986, Roy married the love of his life, Chelly Dykstra, a 100% Dutch, God-fearing farm girl from Northwestern Iowa. They spent 17 years in ministry together sharing the love of the Lord across the US and even in Madrid, Spain. Roy, then, had a successful career in Recruiting and Staffing, ultimately finishing as an industry leader in MN and selling his business in 2016.

Roy passed away while fishing at Lake Vermillion and staying at 'the cabin' on Center Island, where he frequently visited since he was 7 years old. He passed away at his favorite place on earth while doing the one thing he loved most (musky fishing).

Roy was notorious for his unfiltered encouragement and gut-filled desire to lift everyone up, whether you had low tires or full tires, he always pumped you up more with kind, sincere words and/or his 8 ^th grade sense of humor. Roy made friends with anyone and everyone; it didn't matter if it was the guy changing the oil in his car or a CEO of a billion dollar organization. Roy truly could, and did, become everyone's best friend in a moment, but he especially loved the underdog. Early on, Roy's life was  transformed by the love of God and that love overflowed to anyone and everyone that he got to know. Roy passionately loved his savior Jesus, his wife, his family and others well.

Roy leaves behind his wife, Chelly, of 34 years, his 3 sons, David, Daniel and Andrew, his 3 perfect daughter-in-law's, Courtney, Lindsey, and Annie, whom he absolutely adored, his parents Roy, Nadine and Joanne, and his sisters, Laurie and Carrie and her husband Chuck. All of them are excited to reunite with Roy in heaven.

There will be a private family visitation, by invitation only, on Wednesday evening. The celebration of Roy's life will take place Thursday at 11AM at the Larson residence in New Prague.
