Obituary

Rose Tikalsky, age 100, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Saturday, April 9, 2016.  Rose was born August 30, 1915, in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, to Martin and Mary (Panek) Janovsky.  She was raised in the rural New Prague area and attended Le Sueur County District School.  On February 14, 1939, Rose married John Tikalsky in New Prague and the couple farmed together until John’s tragic death as the result of a car accident on December 10, 1990.  Rose was a farm housewife, who raised chickens and sold her farm-fresh eggs for decades.  She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables and canned the fruits of those efforts. She enjoyed sewing as well.  Rose was a kind woman, always with a kind word for others and she looked forward especially to her visits with relatives.

Rose is survived by her son, Donald Tikalsky of New Prague; many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; 2 brothers, William and George Janovsky; 2 sisters, Emma Vohnoutka, Mary Hejny.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Erick Thompson of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.  Visitation will occur 2 hours prior to service from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.  Burial takes place after the service at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.  Lunch  immediately follows at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.
