Rose Franek, age 87, of New Prague, died Sept. 25, 2012 at her home.  Rose was born on August 26, 1925 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to Ladislav J. & Anna A. (Pavek) Novak.  She married Joseph B. Franek on June 4, 1946 in Veseli, MN and was a lifelong resident of the New Prague/Veseli area. Rose was a homemaker, first and foremost, but also worked at Master Specialties in Savage, Tikalsky’s Eggs in New Prague, tended bar at Rock’s Place in New Prague, and worked at Mamer’s Grocery in New Prague. Rose enjoyed getting together with family & friends, old time music, playing euchre & bingo, and dancing.

Rose is survived by her children: Lavonne VonBank of New Prague, Ken (& Judy) Franek of Charlotte, NC, Joe (& Jackie) Franek of Shakopee, Dennis (& Donna) Franek of Lyndon Station, WI, Sharon King (& Del Zentgraf) of Ogilvie, MN, Duane (& Chris) Franek of Prior Lake, Kathy (& Rod) Sawatzke of Monticello, Terry Franek of Browerville, Sue (& Dave) Isaacson, of New Prague; Siblings, Marcie Hadac (& friend Ray Moran) of New Prague, Anne Fischer of Veseli, George Novak of Veseli, Fritz (& Joyce) Novak of New Prague, Caroline (& Wilbert) Shimota of Webster, Mary Jane Vosejpka of Lonsdale, Jerry (& Betty) Novak of Montgomery; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joe on Oct. 3, 1978; her parents; son-in-law Tom King; brother, Larry Novak in infancy; special friend, John Rezac.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 9:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will take place Friday from 4  – 8 PM and Saturday from 7:30 – 9:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery and lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
