Ronald R Kopet “Kopee,” age 82, of New Prague, passed away on March 30, 2026.

Ronald was born to Albert and Emily (Teply) in New Prague on July 18,1943. He grew up outside of Veseli on his family farm. Ronald lost his father when he was 5 years old in a tragic accident and he was raised by his mother, grandmother, and uncle on the farm. After school he continued to work on the farm and other various jobs. He met the love of his life Ruth in July of 1965 and the two were married shortly after. Ronald and Ruth found a place together in New Prague and raised their family. He worked with heavy machinery and spent 28 years of his career with Prior Lake Aggregates, and was a proud member of Local #49 Union of Operating Engineers. Ronald would take his kids fishing and camping, instilling a love for the outdoors. In retirement Ronald loved to camp, taking his camper to Arizona for extended periods of time. He loved watching old westerns and cowboy shows. He especially enjoyed listening to KCHK Radio, traditional Czech music, and classic country.

Ronald loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to cook and it made him happy to see his meals be enjoyed. He would even go out of his way to make people’s favorite dishes for them.

Ronald was one of a kind and had the biggest heart. He would do anything for the people he loved and cared about.

He was a wonderful grandfather and cherished his time with the grandkids. He loved animals. He was heartbroken when his best friend “Smokey,” his dog, had passed. He would also feed the birds and squirrels and took great enjoyment watching them in the yard.

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 60 years Ruth; children, Ron Jr., Tammy (Curtis) Hrabe; grandchildren Keely Hrabe, and Lilliana Davis; sister, Carol Kotasek; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on April 19, 2026, at Le Fete Royale, 408 Main Street W., New Prague, MN 56071.
