Roger Ruhland, age 88, of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, MN.  Roger was born Sept. 1, 1924 to Math J. & Albina A. (Svoboda) Ruhland in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County, MN.  He attended school in Union Hill, never married, and was a lifelong farmer in Derrynane Township.  Roger was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed old time music, and was a collector of old tractors.

Roger is survived by his brother, Ronald Ruhland (& special friend, Carol Dvorak) of Union Hill; sisters, Regina Witt of Belle Plaine, Rose Savage of Belle Plaine, & Ramona McGuire of Montgomery; 30 nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond; sisters, Roberta Witt, Rita Ann Ruhland, & Rose Marie Ruhland (in infancy).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill with Fr. Dave Barrett officiating.  Visitation will be held at Bruzek Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 11th from 4 – 8 PM and on Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM.   Burial will occur immediately after mass at St. John’s Cemetery in Union Hill.  Lunch will follow at  the KC Hall in New Prague.
