Roger “Fred” Prchal, age 61, of New Prague, died December 21, 2012 at his home. Fred was born October 8, 1951 in Montgomery to Stanley A. & Lucille (Heberle) Prchal. He grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Mankato State University, where he was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Fred married Barbara Kratochvil on July 9, 1977 in New Prague. He worked in sales all his life, where his outgoing personality garnered friendships near and far. Fred was a gun safety instructor for the Montgomery Sportsman Club for 31 years. He was a member of the New Prague Sportsmen Club, Minnesota Waterfowl Association, formerly Pheasants Forever, and was also a former religious education teacher at St. Wenceslaus. Fred loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and always speaking his mind.
Fred is survived by his wife, Barb of New Prague; children, Josephine (& Mark) Brinda of Minneapolis, Todd (& April) Prchal of Sauk Center, Jenna Prchal (& Keyon Keys) of Minneapolis; Grandchildren, Shamore & Mathius Brinda, Skyler Prchal, McKein Keys; brothers, Robert (& Lou) Prchal of Excelsior, Ronald “Chubby” (& Linda) Prchal of Danville, IN, Ralph (& Ann) Prchal of Prior Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Christian Prchal in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will occur Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Denny Dempsey officiating. Visitation will take place Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4 – 8 PM and on Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery. Lunch will follow at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.
