Robert Edward Sticha (Bobbie), age 93, of New Prague, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Bobbie was born on September 6, 1920, in Cedar Lake Township to Edward J. & Adeline (Havlicek) Sticha. He attended school in Veseli. the family moved to rural St. Patrick and he worked on the family farm and helped neighbors with field work. He joined the Army in November of 1944 and served until August of 1946. During his tour of duty he served 16 months in Italy. After returning from the service, he worked in South St. Paul for a few years and then worked on his farm until his retirement
Bobbie, who never married, was a hard-working practical man with strong family ties and values. He liked watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He loved old time and old country music; he played the concertina and the electric guitar at family parties. Bobbie loved his Farmall tractors and Chevrolet cars. He was very devoted and concerned about all his extended family. He was like a dad and grandpa to all his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, always wondering how everyone was doing and calling them often. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Bobbie was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the VFW in New Prague.
Bobbie is survived by his sister, Hattie (& Benny) Ingram of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Susan Sticha of Montgomery; special nephew, Eddie Sticha of New Prague; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, sister Adeline Doherty, brother-in-law John Doherty, and great-nephew Leslie Kukacka.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Wagner of St. Wenceslaus officiating. Visitation will occur prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted with burial at St Wenceslaus Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.
