Robert Ehlers, age 53, of New Prague, died suddenly on Monday, April 4, 2016, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.  Rob was  born on August 16, 1962, at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee to Earl P. and Katherine A. (Wickman) Ehlers.  He started school at St. Michael Catholic School in Prior Lake and then moved to Jordan, where he graduated from Jordan Public School.  Rob married Brenda L. Pieper at the Le Sueur County Courthouse in  Le Center, MN on October 25, 1996.  The couple made their home in New Prague.  Rob was a talented cabinet maker, most recently for Dugas Woodworking.  Rob was most noted as a “people person” – no matter where he went, someone knew him.  His hobbies included talking, beekeeping, motorcycles, and classic cars.  He was most excited about becoming a grandpa in October.

Rob is survived by his wife, Brenda of New Prague; son, Bryan Ehlers (Allyson Herring) of Montgomery; sisters, Becky (Gene) Borchardt of Jordan and Richelle (Michael) Cross of Savage; brother, Richard Ehlers  (DeLane Jones) of Montgomery; mother-in-law, Alphie Pieper of New Prague; sister-in-law, Bertha  (Travis) Murdock & their son, Brandon, of Grandview, TX; brother-in-law, Keith Pieper of New Prague; niece, Rachel  (Bryant) Gast of Shakopee.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 12:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Kurt Dugas officiating.  Visitation will take place from 10:00 till service time. Lunch will follow at Ettlin’s Cafe in New Prague.
