Robert J. “Bud” Javurek, age 92, of New Prague, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Mala Strana Health Care Center. Bud was born on May 28, 1920 to Joseph J. & Julia E. (Uhlir) Javurek in New Prague. He was a lifelong resident of New Prague, attending St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School. He went on to Dunwoody Technical Institute and then served in the army during WWII from July 1942 to December 1945. He married Stella M. Wolf on October 22, 1953 at St. Wenceslaus in New Prague. For most of his life, he did masonry work with his father. From 1974 – 1986 he worked as a custodian at New Prague High School. Bud was a charter member of the New Prague VFW and a member of the American Legion in New Prague. He collected coins, enjoyed watching the Twins & Vikings, loved politics, and enjoyed playing cards & bingo, hunting & fishing.
Bud is survived by his wife, Stella; sisters, Lorraine Link of Shakopee & Charlotte “Shirley” Hentges of Jordan; many loving nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Novak; niece, Donna Herda.
Mass of Christian Burial for Bud will take place Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitation will occur Friday, January 25 from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 10:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Interment will take place after mass at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, followed by lunch at the KC Hall. Military rites will be conducted.
