Richard Nelson, age 47, of Montgomery, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home.  Richard was born January 7, 1966 in Shakopee to Steven E. & Mary (Mueller) Nelson.  He was raised in New Prague attending New Prague Public Schools and Hennepin Technical College.  Richard worked as a roofing inspector for Certainteed, Inc.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his sons, Jonas & Kabe Nelson; mother, Mary Nelson of New Prague; father, Steven (& Kelly) Nelson of Shakopee; siblings, Becky (& Jon) Roe of Independence, MN, Tina (& Chad) LeSuer of New Prague, Tracy Adamek (& Greg Tuttle) of Montgomery, Scott (& Jackelyn) Nelson of Jacksonville, FL; Melissa (& Rick) Burmeister of Lino Lakes, “Dicker” Anthony (& Kristina) Mohlin of Lino Lakes, Dayne Mohlin of Brooklyn Park, Erick (& Danielle) Mohlin of Le Sueur, Joleen Mohlin of Shakopee, Kaely Renea Mohlin of Phoenix, AZ; grandparents, Herb and Barb Dropps of Hill City, MN.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Barry Nelson; grandparents, Richard Nelson, Leander & Loretta Mueller.

Memorial Service will take place Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 1:30 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague with Reverend Mark Gold and Reverend Erick Thompson officiating.  Serving as  honorary urn bearers will be Howard Braith, Jim Marxen, Dave Mader, Jeff Brown, & Jeff Picka. Visitation will occur from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.  Lunch will follow the service at the church fellowship hall.
