Obituary

Richard Hains, age 91, of Rogers, formerly of New Prague, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.  Dick was born August 20, 1924, in New Prague to Frank A. and Mary M. (Rehm) Hains.  Raised in New Prague, he attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and New Prague High School.  After trade school, Dick entered the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII on the USS Idaho as a Gunners Mate Second Class.  After military service, he returned to Minnesota and worked as a Master Mason/Bricklayer for many years, including work for OPUS corporation.  Dick belonged to the Minnesota and North Dakota Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, the American Legion, and the VFW.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and Minnesota Twins Baseball.

Dick is survived by nephews, Kip & Mary Lager and their children, Allyssa, Ashley, & Amy of St. Peter, Ric Lager and his children, John and Christine of Golden Valley, Thomas & Donna Turek and their children, Anthony & Debra of Isanti; brother-in-law, Gerald Lager of St. Peter.  He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gloria H. Lager and Jean (Georgene) Turek.

There will be no services.  Interment will be next to his parents in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
