Obituary

Randy Seurer, age 64, of New Prague, died suddenly Thursday, February 11, 2016, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.  Randy was born December 19, 1951, in New Prague to Ralph P. and Dorothy M. (Pauly) Seurer.  He was a lifelong resident of New Prague, attending St. Wenceslaus School and graduating from New Prague High School.  He served for 6 years in the Army Reserve and on September 30, 1972, he married Marlene J. Weiers at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill.  After their marriage, Randy would operate Randy’s Mobil Station.  He also went on to work for MVE and did over the road trucking for many companies: S & M Trucking, J & R Schugel, Transport Design, and finally Cliff Viessman Trucking.  After retirement, he worked as a lunch scanner at Raven Stream Elementary School. Randy was a man of many interests.  He loved the outdoors, satisfying that passion with fishing and hunting, motorcycling during the warmer months, and snowmobiling during the winter.  He also loved flying and belonged to Marginal Aviation.  Finally, his love of vehicles was furthered by his interest in classic cars.  But his highest priority in life was time with his family and he loved especially the time spent with his 5 grandchildren.

Randy is survived by his wife, Marlene of New Prague; children, Glen Seurer of New Prague, Randy  (Brittany) Seurer of Lonsdale, Kim (Cisco) Lee of Kilkenny; grandchildren, Drew, Ashlyn, Sophia, Cain, & Harper; sisters, Karen (Gary) Barclay of Prior Lake, Patti (Jim) Mahowald of New Prague, Debe Bohnsack (Ron Giesen) of New Prague.  He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, John & Theresa Weiers; brother, Leon F. Seurer; brother-in-law, Bruce Bohnsack; nephew, Eric Martinson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 15, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place Sunday from 4 – 8 PM and Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Military Honors will take place after Mass and private family burial will occur at 10 AM on Wednesday.  Lunch will follow Mass at the KC Hall in New Prague.
