Orville W. Krohn, age 89, of New Prague, died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Orville was born December 20, 1923 in Helena Township to Helmer & Anna (Krueger) Krohn. He was baptized and confirmed at Lanesburgh Lutheran Church and attended New Prague Area Schools. Orville served in the Army during World War II and was discharged in 1945. Orville married Violet Gruetzmacher on August 29, 1950 in Montgomery and the couple farmed in Helena Township until he retired on October 1, 1987 when they moved to Sanborn Drive in rural Montgomery. They eventually moved to a town home in New Prague. Orville loved playing cards, gardening, walking the dogs, bowling, and visiting with friends.
Orville is survived by his wife, Violet of 63 years; two sisters, Delores Dvorak of New Prague and Yvonne Marek of Prior Lake; many nieces and nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Henry Koch officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, December 9th from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and 1 hour prior to service at church. Burial will take place immediately following service at Friedens Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted. Lunch will be served in the church social hall after the burial.
