Norbert “Nubs” Marxen, age 83, of New Prague, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.  Norb was born on January 29, 1929 in Sand Creek Township, Scott County, Minnesota to Frank & Elizabeth (Seifert) Marxen. He graduated from Jordan High School and attended the University of Minnesota.  Norb married Patricia Mulligan on November 25, 1950 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Jordan. He worked at Continental Machines in Savage for 20 years and then Mala Strana Health Care Center for 20 years.  After retiring, he worked at Rynda Hardware for 8 years.  Norb enjoyed bird watching & woodworking.

Norb is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Laura (& Greg) Lien, Gaile Bjerke (& Fiance, Mark Furth), Beth (& Rob) Mahle, Joan Marxen, Bob Marxen, Ellen (& Steve) Veith, Jim (& Katherine) Marxen, Amy (& Don) Cheney; 12 grandchildren, Erin, Brian, Emily, Christopher, Jenna, Molly, Sarah, Samantha, Tricia, Josh, Katie, Paul; sisters, Delores Hansen, Lorraine Johnson, Alice (& Wally) Borchert.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Andrew in infancy; brother, Henry Marxen; sister, Marie Busch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with visitation at Bruzek Funeral Home that morning from 9 – 10:30 AM.  Burial will occur at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan.  Lunch will be held after mass at the KC Hall in New Prague.
