Nan Eischens, age 82, of New Prague, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Nan was born on June 27, 1931 in Brainerd, MN to Clayton & Esther (Hedlund) Hess. She attended Brainerd High School and worked there after graduation and then at the University of MN as a secretary. She married Richard J. “Dick” Eischens on February 19, 1955 at Incarnation Church in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Bloomington, MN before moving to New Prague in 1970. Nan truly enjoyed people – no one was a stranger for long. She was active in SW Minnesota Blue Grass Association, the St. Wenceslaus CCW, Queen of Peace Auxiliary, New Prague Historical Society, Friends of the Library, the Farm Bureau, KC Auxiliary, and Minnesota Academy of Science. She was an antique collector, loved spending time with her grandchildren, and had a wide range of interests.
Nan is survived by her husband, Dick, of New Prague; children, Anne Marie Bisek of Fond du Lac, WI, John (& Leslie) Eischens of Houston, TX, Mike (& Shari) Eischens of New Prague; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, George & Ronald Hess and a sister in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will occur Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton, Father Allan Paul Eilen, and Father Mike Miller officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday from 4 – 8 PM and Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery and lunch will follow immediately after at the KC Hall in New Prague.
