Mildred M. Birkett, age 92, of Colby, WI, died peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague, MN. Mildred was born on April 28, 1926 in Freemont Township, WI to Walter and Viola (Dahl) Foemmel. She was raised in the Chili, WI area and graduated from Loyal High School. She married Willis Birkett on July 24, 1946 in Granton, WI and the couple made their home in Colby, WI, where they raised their seven children. Mildred's interests and activities revolved around her family and the making of her home. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in Colby and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She gardened and loved cooking and canning the fruits of her garden and was known for her dinner buns. She was a woman who always looked for the positive in life and enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her family.
Mildred is survived by her children, Roger (Patty) Birkett of Madison, WI, Dale (Marcia) Birkett of Fall River, WI, Susan (Leo) Joubert of Waterville, MN, Duane (Terry) Birkett of Kronenwetter, WI, Sherri (Dave) Ohnsted of Duluth MN, Lynette (Christian) Brandt of New Prague, MN; sister-in-law, Olive Foemmel of New London, MN; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willis, on February 23, 2004; son, Arlan Birkett; sister, Irene Smazel; brothers, Walter and Gilbert Foemmel.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Colby Cemetery in Colby, Wisconsin.
