Obituary

Michael G. Stang, age 65, of New Prague, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.  Michael was born on September 11, 1951, in New Prague to Gilbert H. and Adeline C. (Simota) Stang.  He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and graduated from New Prague High School.  Michael served in the US Army Reserves as a Private First Class and was discharged in September 1976.  He married Kathleen Holicky on September 5, 1981, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center and the couple made their home in New Prague.  Michael worked at various factory jobs during his work career.  He was a member of the American Legion and loved playing cards, fishing, and hunting.  One of his greatest enjoyments, however, was visiting with people.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kathy, of New Prague; sister, Patricia (Shawn) Murphy of Florida; brother, Brian (Megan) Stang of Mendota Heights; many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Adeline Stang; sister, Carmen Malecha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 12:00 Noon at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will  take place from 9:00 to 11:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Military Honors will be conducted immediately after Mass, followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom
