Mary Jo Sirek, age 72, of New Prague, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital Mankato, Minnesota.  Mary Jo was born January 17, 1940 in Lanesburgh Township, LeSueur County, MN to Stanley W. & Mary (Horejsi).  She married Larry L. Sirek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague on June 14, 1958.  A lifelong resident of New Prague, Mary Jo worked in many industries: she was a dental assistant for Dr. Sladik, produce manager at Don’s Foodland, farmed with her husband until 1984, sales clerk at Gehlen’s Jewelry, managed Pump & Munch Station in New Prague, and served as a rural mail carrier from 1984 until retiring in 2010.  Mary Jo was a union representative and past president of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.  In addition, she was a New Prague School Board member for 8 years.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Larry; 5 children, Sue (& Bob) Ambroz, Carol (& Brett) Erath, Russ (& Deb) Sirek, Jan Sirek-Meyer, Randy (& Kim) Sirek; 5 siblings, Stan (& Vi) Chromy, John (& Nora) Chromy, Dick (& Jan) Chromy, Ann Marie (& Bryan) Becker, Tom (& Diane) Chromy; 16 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine Chromy, Nancy Chromy, Karen Chromy; brother-in-law, Norman Hallett.   She was preceded in death by son, Roger Sirek (d.1-8-75); parents; siblings, Art Chromy, Charles Chromy, Kay Hallett.

Funeral Service Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli. Visitation 4 – 8 PM Tuesday and 7:30 – 9:30 AM Wednesday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Private family burial at a later date.  Lunch following service at the KC Hall in New Prague.
