Mary Franek, age 95, of New Prague, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Central Health Care in Le Center.  Mary was born in Cedar Lake Township, Scott Co., MN on March 25, 1919 to Ladimir F. & Winnifred C. (Donnelly) Benes, Sr. She attended grammar school in the district and was a lifelong resident of St. Patrick.  She married Thomas J. Franek on October 17, 1939 at St. Patrick Catholic Church and lovingly raised her family, excelling in cooking and baking!  Mary was active in the St. Patrick Altar Society.

Mary is survived by her children, Winnie (& Dennis) Simon of New Prague, and Mary (& John) Horejsi of Lonsdale; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Franek of Montgomery; sister, Betty Sticha of New Prague.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas on January 18, 2000; son, Richard T. Franek; brother Ladimir F. Benes, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick with Father Orlando Tatel officiating.  Visitation will take place at church 2 hours prior to mass from 10:00 – 12:00.  Burial will occur in the church cemetery followed by lunch in the church social hall.
