Marvin Schanus, age 80, of Lonsdale, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at home.  Marvin was born August 14, 1934 in Hampton, MN to Peter L. and Lucy C. (Blesener) Schanus.  He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and was a lifelong resident of the Veseli/Lonsdale area. He entered the US Army and served in Korea and married Alice R. Simon on May 9, 1959 in Veseli, MN.  Marvin was a laborer in masonry for the Marvin Anderson Construction company.  He belonged to the American Legion and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener.  He loved flowers and anything to do with his lawn and garden but his top priority was his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Alice of Lonsdale; children, Judy (& Mike) Shambour of New Prague, Pete (& Sue) Schanus of Lonsdale, Ken (& Laurie) Schanus of Veseli, Cindy Schanus of Lonsdale; 10 granddaughters; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Havlicek of Veseli, Jean (& Fritz) Malecha of Webster; sisters-in-law, Irene Schanus of Maple Plain, Kay Schanus of New Prague, Alice Schanus of New Prague.  He is preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, Edward, Donald, Clifford, Melvin, Richard “Butch”, Danny, Alfred (in infancy); 4 sisters, Ceil Tix, Lorraine Nance, La Verne Ruter, Germaine Kadrlik.
