Obituary

Orlando M. "Marv" Iverson, age 95, of Jordan, died peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, January 21, 2022 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. Marv was born in Halstad, MN on March 7, 1926 to Orlando and Edna (Niebeling) Iverson. He grew up in Ada, Minnesota and attended a country school. He lost an eye as a child and was sent to a school for the blind in southern Minnesota to continue his education. He progressively lost sight in the other eye and despite the challenges brought by his visual deficits, Marv lived a life of purpose and determination. He worked on the farm with his dad and brother and eventually traveled to Minneapolis where he worked for many years at the University of Minnesota as a head custodian, finally retiring in 1992. During those years, he moved to Jordan and joined his sister on a hobby farm.

Marv's perseverance and strong work ethic found him in his element on the farm. He was a dedicated member of the Scott-Carver Threshers, which fed his love of tractors and steam engines. One of his pride and joys was his 1918 Model T truck, which he lovingly maintained and drove as recently as last summer. His eye sight was no deterrent to his mechanical acuity – he could tell what was wrong with an engine just by the sound. A quiet, gentle man by nature, he loved the chaos of noise, engines running and children playing. His greatest pride and joy in life was his great-great-nephew, Riley, and was never happier than when he rough-housed and played with him. A stubborn but gentle man, his zest for life, his kindness has left a deep hole in his loss.

Marv is survived by great-niece, Jade McNeil (fiancé, Nick Vien); great-great-nephew, Riley; sister-in-law, Audrey Iverson; niece, Tara (Don) Wester, nephew, Kenneth Thomas Iverson II, many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Iverson; sister, Lillian Cook; niece, Tami Gould.

Services will be held at a later date with burial in Ada, MN.
