Marie D. Giesen (Mudek), age 68, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Marie was born to John and Julia (Sagissor) Mudek and was raised on the east side of St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Johnson High School and later attended Rasmussen College, where she earned an associate degree in business. Throughout her career, Marie handled the bookkeeping for Giesen Construction and later Q3 Contracting.

Marie raised her family in the south metro area, where she created a home centered on love, hospitality, and togetherness. She loved to travel, especially with her late husband Randy, and found joy in socializing and making memories with those she loved. Traveling near or far, Marie could always be found with a good book near by.

She enjoyed outdoor activities, including ice fishing, deer hunting, and spending time at the "Mule Shack," the family cabin. She also loved gardening and cooking with homegrown ingredients. Resourceful by nature, Marie had a knack for making something special out of whatever she had on hand, and she was always ready with favorite snacks like tortilla wraps, pickle rollups, and Polish roses.

Marie was outgoing, charismatic, and full of life. She deeply loved being surrounded by family and friends. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she was spiritual by nature. She believed each person had their own relationship with God. One of her favorite things to say to her grandchildren when they told her "I love you" was, "I love you too, but remember God loves you more."

Marie especially adored her grandchildren and treasured every chance to visit them. She live streamed their sporting events and watched them with pride and devotion.

Marie is survived by her children, Melissa (Luke) Lyon of Savage, Julia (Nathan) Prokopec of St. Paul, and Matthew Giesen of Burnsville; stepdaughters, Christin Giesen of Stillwater and Susan (Jon) Hartman of Arden Hills; grandchildren, Nathan, Zachary, Walter, Leona; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jack, and Frankie; and siblings, Patty Mudek and Peg (Dan) Kohoutek.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Randy Giesen; her parents; and her brother, John Mudek.

A private family interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery - Union Hill.
