Obituary

Marcella H. "Marcie" Hadac, age 97, died peacefully, with her family present on her birthday, April 8, 2019, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in 1922 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to Ladislav J. "Laddy" and Anna A. (Pavek) Novak.  She grew up in the Veseli area and attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic School.  Due to the depression, she had to leave school at age 14 and worked for local farm families to help with family expenses.  She married Edward M. Hadac on November 19, 1943 in Atlantic City, NJ and after marriage, Marcie worked many jobs.  Her pride and joy was being a homemaker and raising her four children.  Throughout her life, she worked at Tikalsky Produce, in the housekeeping departments for both Queen of Peace Hospital and Mala Strana, and lastly, at St. Wenceslaus School kitchen as a cook, the job from which she retired. Marcie belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was active throughout her life, enjoying bowling, Euchre, horseshoes, and Bingo/Mystic Lake. She was an avid walker and her quick gate kept her young long into her 90's.

Marcie is survived by her children, Steven (Carol) Hadac of Hastings, Larry (Margo) Hadac of Lyndon Station, WI, Mary Jean (Gil) Sirek of Byron; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, George Novak of Veseli, Francis (Joyce) Novak of New Prague, Jerry Novak of Montgomery, Caroline Shimota of Webster, Mary Jane Vosejpka of Lonsdale; companion, Ray Moran of New Prague.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward on May 7, 1979; son, Mark; grandson, Peter Hadac; sisters, Anne Fischer, Rose Franek; brother, Lawrence Novak in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Noon at St. Wenceslaus Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom, where the eulogy will be given.
