Marcella E. Kubes, age 88, of Staples, formerly of New Prague, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, MN.  Marcie was born November 3, 1924 in Wheatland Township to William & Josephine C. (Shambour) Kasparek.  She attended Rice County District School, St. Wenceslaus School, and New Prague High School.  Marcie married Frank A. Kubes on November 4, 1941 in New Prague and the couple farmed together; Marcie contributed in all areas of the farm, most notably raising chickens.  She also worked in the housekeeping department of Queen of Peace Hospital.  Marcie enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting with Mission Sewing at St. Wenceslaus, baking, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.

Marcie is survived by her daughter, Betty (& Gary) Nytes of Staples; daughter-in-law, Darlene Kubes of Lonsdale; sisters-in-law, Judy Kubes of Eagan, Ann Eva Kubes of Shakopee; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank on March 24, 2011; son, Richard Kubes; grandson, Braden Meinert; her parents; brother Ray Kasparek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, October 25 from 5 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  There will be a public rosary at the visitation Friday afternoon.  Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.  Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom.
