Obituary

Lyle E. Hamm, age 75, of New Prague died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.  Lyle was born October 25, 1938 at Giese, Minnesota to Edward Floyd Hamm and Beryl (Chandler) Hamm.  He was raised and attended school on the iron range at Keewatin, Hibbing, and Kelly Lake and then moved to St. Paul.  He married Barbara L. Rollinger on July 23, 1960 at St. Paul.  He retired in October 1993 after 31 years employed as a heavy equipment operator for the St. Paul School District #625.

Lyle had several airplanes and flew out of the Lake Elmo airport.  He most frequently piloted a Cherokee 140 and a Luscombe.  He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying duck and deer hunting, fishing, block powder shooting, and riding snowmobiles, motorcycles and four wheelers.  He bagged a Minnesota moose in 1989.  He was a plain old country boy that loved the outdoors.  Lyle was fanatical in cutting an 8 acre lawn at his home, cared for vegetable and flower gardens and loved feeding the birds.

Lyle is survived by his wife Barb, sons Robert (& Artall) Hamm of Shafer, MN, and Scott (& Jaime) Hamm Sr. of New Prague, and sisters Florence (& Darrell) Gervais of Askov MN and Linda (& Robert) Hampeys of Hinckley MN, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services Monday September 29, 2014 at 5 PM with ”Ponch” of Walls of Jericho Ministry officiating at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, MN (952-758-4949, bruzekfuneralhome.com) with visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.  Cremation will follow services.
