Lorraine M. “Pat” Vancura, age 89, of New Prague, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Mala Strana Health Care Center after a battle with cancer. Lorraine was born March 31, 1924 in Montgomery, MN to Joseph & Rose (Mader) Hughes.  She attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and Montgomery High School.  On July 3, 1959 Lorraine “Pat” married William R. Vancura Sr. She worked at Robinhood Flour, was a seamstress at Montomgery Munsingwear, and was a sales clerk at the New Prague Ben Franklin Store.  Pat enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, and scrapbooking.

Pat is survived by her son Bill R. Vancura, Jr. of New Prague; 14 nieces and nephews; numerous grand-nieces & -nephews and great-grand-nieces and -nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1996; sisters, Evelyn Kohout and Lillian Filipek; brothers, Edward & Joseph Hughes (both in infancy).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to mass.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery and lunch will follow at the KC Hall.
