Laura Ryan, age 87, of St. Patrick, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Northfield Retirement Care Center. Laura was born February 24, 1929 in New Market, MN to Alois and Susan (Fridges) Wagner. She was born and raised in New Market and attended St. Nicholas Catholic School and Minnesota Ag School. She married Roland J. “Rollie” Ryan on September 14, 1949 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm north of St. Patrick. She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and volunteered as a religion teacher and was a dedicated member of CCW. Laura also was a member of T.O.P.S., Queen of Peace Card-o-Rama, and numerous Bridge Clubs. She loved sewing and embroidery and made many quilts, potholders, and dish towels. Another favorite pastime was Bingo but her greatest joy came in getting together with her family and friends and in particular, her grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Wagner of Shakopee, Patricia Ryan of Prior Lake, Michael (Rita) Ryan of Elko, Janice (Don) Cervenka of Webster, Mark (June) Ryan of Clearwater, Ron (Rosie) Ryan of New Prague, Marie (John) Marchiafava of Ham Lake; sisters, Bernice Devine of New Market, Agnes DeGross of New Prague; brother, Ralph (Geralda) Wagner of New Market; sisters-in-law, Eileen Wagner of Prior Lake, Helen Pomije of New Prague; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Church of Cedar Lake in rural Jordan with Father Michael Miller officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, from 3 – 8 PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 10:00 AM all at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur after Mass in the church cemetery followed by lunch in the St. Patrick Social Hall.
