Lando Busch, age 90, of New Prague, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Mayo Health System Hospital New Prague. Lando was born February 27, 1923 in Helena Township, Scott County, to Florian H. & Elizabeth (Hoffman) Busch. He attended school at St. Benedict Catholic School and was a lifelong resident of the St. Benedict/New Prague area. He served in the US Army in Okinawa during WWII and after service, married Angeline E. Vohnoutka on September 6, 1949 in St. Patrick Church, Jordan. After Angie’s death in 1998, Lando married Glady (Ramaker) Krautkremer on November 23, 2001 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Lando was past owner of Busch Construction in New Prague and currently owned Shakopee Gravel. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus and served on the St. Wenceslaus Elevator Committee. Lando was an avid outdoor sportsman, participated in baseball in the army and for the St. Benedict team, and enjoyed league bowling.
Lando is survived by his wife, Glady of New Prague; 6 children, Karen (& Dr. John) Kraft of Incline Village, NV, Sandi (& Dave) Novak of Lakeville, Glenn (& Jan) Busch of Eden Prairie, Judi Palmstein (& Carl Johnson) of Elk River, Diane (& Rick “Ike”) Isaacson of New Prague, Dale (& Michelle) Busch of Brooklyn Park; brothers, Elgar (& Irene) Busch and Oliver (& Louise) Busch both of New Prague; sister, Pauline Krenik of Lonsdale; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Busch of Waterville; 11 grandchildren & 4 Great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Angie in 1998, infant son Lando A. Busch, Jr. in 1961; brothers, Harold, Edgar, & Wilbert.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Thomas Krenik officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and Monday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with military honors conducted. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Drew & Dylan Novak, Lindy Sandmann, Annah Busch, Garret Palmstein, Jenna Gitchel, Michael Busch, Lauren Busch, Derrick & Austin & Lexi Isaacson. Lunch will follow interment at the New Prague Golf Club. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
