Julie Halvorson, age 69, of New Prague, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Julie was born August 22, 1945 in New Prague to Joseph G. and Mary A. (Tupa) Novotny. She attended Scott Co. District School, St. Wenceslaus School, and New Prague High School and a was a life-long resident of New Prague. On June 21, 1968 Julie married David Halvorson in New Prague. She worked as an accountant for Queen of Peace Hospital. Julie loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables, scrapbooking, and various crafts. She had a very special relationship with her grandchildren.
Julie is survived by her husband, David of New Prague; children, Daniel (& Lesley) Halvorson of Farmington, and Michelle Deysaych of Eagan; grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Sarah Deysaych, Mary and Danny Halvorson; siblings, Roger Novotny of Veseli, Donald Novotny of New Prague, Tom (& Rose) Novotny of Rosemount, Mary (& John) Reintjes of Elysian, Joe (& Delores) Novotny of New Prague, Betty (& Duane) Stanke of New Prague, David (& Marlene) Novotny of New Prague, Sue (& Dean) Roe of New Prague, Sally (& Gary) Malz of Jordan, DeAnna Novotny of Coon Rapids. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Mary Novotny.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill, MN with Father David Barrett officiating. Visitation will take place Friday from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Interment will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague with lunch following at the KC Hall in New Prague. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
