Julia E. Tupy, age 86, of Faribault, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague.  Julia was born April 19, 1929 in Lonsdale, MN to John and Albina (Maxa) Nerud.  She grew up in the Lonsdale area, attending Rice County District School.  She married John B. Tupy on September 13, 1949, in Lonsdale.  After John’s sudden death on March 28, 1955, Julia moved with her young son from the couple’s home in Webster to Lonsdale to live with her mother.  She moved to Faribault in 1964 and worked for the Olympia Cafe and then as a cook with the Faribault State School for 25 years.  Julia’s hobbies included a love of reading, birds, and flowers.

Julia is survived by her sister, Vi (Stan) Chromy of New Prague; sister-in-law, Ceil Nerud of New Prague; many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry Tupy; brother, John Nerud; sisters, Sr. Maxima of the Sisters of Notre Dame, Marcella Novak, Albina Trenda.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague with Father Dave Barrett officiating.  Visitation will occur Wednesday, January 6th from 4 – 7 PM and Thursday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will take place after Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale, followed by lunch at the Lonsdale Legion Club.
