Obituary

Judith M. "Judie" Cervenka, age 77, of New Prague, died Thursday June 10, 2021 at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN surrounded by family.  Judie was born on November 28, 1943 in New Prague to Emil F. and Mary N. (Novak) Bisek.  After graduating from St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School, Judie married Daniel T. Cervenka on Sept. 9, 1961 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.  The couple settled to raise their family at St. Patrick on the Cervenka farm.

Judie waitressed at Tony's and cooked at Red Lion Supper Club.  She then worked retail at Gehlen's Jewelry Store and McMahon's Drug Store before working with her husband at Cervenka Masonry.  Her biggest and greatest vocation was raising her children and grandchildren.  In addition to volunteering at The Peace Center, and Alpha Women's Center, Judie was active in the Eagles Club. She sang for many weddings and funerals.  She was involved in the church choir, finance committee, and CCW at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling, lunches, and vacations with family and friends.  A very social person, Judie enjoyed the company of others and found great joy in helping others laugh.

Judie is survived by her children Terrie E. Schoenbauer (& Kent Jones) of New Prague, Daniel T. (& Debbie) Cervenka, Jr. of New Prague, Deb M. (& Mike) Kubes of New Prague; brother, George (Carol) Bisek of Lindstrom; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel T. Cervenka, Sr. on Dec. 15, 2001; parents; brothers, Leonard and Gene Bisek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake, rural Jordan.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 15th from 4-8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and at church 1 hour prior to service.
