Joyce Rud, age 74, of New Prague, died peacefully Sunday morning, February 7, 2016, at Central Health Care in Le Center.  Joyce was born July 28, 1941, in New Prague, MN to Robert L. and Alvina (Giesen) Svobodny.  She attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School.  She married Rodney L. Rud on February 20, 1960, at St. Wenceslaus Church and the couple made their home and raised their family in New Prague.  Joyce enjoyed shopping, particularly garage sales, and both decorating her own home and watching the home decorating channel.  Her highest priority, however, was time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her children, Tim (Debbie) Rud of Lonsdale, Terry (Mary Jo)  Rud of Lonsdale, Thomas Rud of New Prague; grandchildren, Dan Rud, Jenni (Brady) Hautman, Brian Rud, Matthew Rud, Stephanie (Derek) Almen; great-grandchildren, Brody, Ava, Hadley, Lilly, & Jacent; sister, Judy (Jim) Kubes of New Prague; She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney on September 3, 2011; parents; brother, Robert Svobodny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place prior to Mass from 7:30 – 11:00 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.
