John Meskan, age 66, of New Prague, died Monday, September 29, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. John was born February 5, 1948 in New Prague to Edward H. & Edith R. (Stull) Meskan. He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, graduated from New Prague High School, and attended Mankato State College before enlisting in the US Air Force and serving in the Vietnam War. John married Georgia M. Sauer on July 1, 1972 at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in New Prague and John worked in sales, most recently for Ecolab. He was a past member of the New Prague Golf Club and served as a past president of the Board. He was also a member of the American Legion and a proud member of AA. John loved golf, playing cards and the guitar; though he would debate the issue, he had a beautiful singing voice.
John is survived by his wife, Georgia, of New Prague; daughters, Andria ( & Mark) Reiland of New Prague and Elizabeth (& Aaron) Neiderhiser of St. Louis Park; sister, Judith Wasilowski of Eagan; brother-in-law, Carl Englund of Ham Lake; 7 grandchildren, Will, Lauren, Beau, Beckett, Jacob, Elle, Camille. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Meskan; sister, Kay Englund.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 3, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Dennis Dempsey officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday from 4 – 7 PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with military rites conducted. Lunch will follow at the New Prague Golf Club.
