Obituary

Joe Lexa, age 82, of New Prague, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Center.  Joe was born October 22, 1931 in New Prague to James Wencel  & Rose A. (Bisek) Lexa.  He was a lifelong resident of New Prague, graduating from New Prague High School.  He served in the US Army in the Korean War and upon discharge he purchased and operated West End Liquors for 13 years.  He married Margaret M. Sticha on January 27, 1973.  He went on to work at MVE in the machine shop for approximately 12 years.  Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, VFW, and New Prague Sportsmen.  He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman, especially when it came to fishing,  hunting, and gardening.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marge, of New Prague; children, Deb Bastyr of Rosemount, Jerry Prokes (& Fiance, Jojo Ahmann) of Tampa, FL, Joseph (& Priscilla) Lexa of Burnsville, Julie (& Kevin) Krause of Nelson, WI; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Helen Wolf and Pauline O’Brien, both of New Prague.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Raymond O’Brien & Leo Wolf; nephew, Tim O’Brien.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place Monday, February 3rd from 4 – 8 PM and Tuesday  morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Interment will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with military rites being conducted.  Lunch will be served after prayers at the cemetery at the KC Hall in New Prague.
