Jeanette (Schoenbauer) Bartusek Deutsch, age 83, of New Prague, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Jeanette was born December 27, 1931, in New Prague, MN to Emanuel T. and Julia A. (Svoboda) Schoenbauer. She attended St. Wenceslaus School, graduated from New Prague High School, and attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St. Scholastica. Her first teaching job was in Hastings, MN, followed by Montgomery Public Schools for a short time. Her longest tenure was as Teacher and Librarian for New Prague Public Schools, from which she retired in 1986. Jeanette married Myles F. Bartusek on August 13, 1957, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and after his untimely death in 1958, she married Norbert F. Deutsch on June 8, 1968 also at St. Wenceslaus Church. Jeanette loved history and that was reflected in her membership in the Czech Heritage Society and in the New Prague Area Historical Society, for which she held offices. Her faith was extremely important to her and Jeanette was a dedicated and involved member of St. Wenceslaus, serving in the church choir and giving countless tours of the church to visiting guests of the community. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Council of Catholic Women and served as the Southwest Deanery President. Jeanette loved making Christmas stockings for her nieces and nephews, traveling, and reading voraciously, playing Bridge, and tracing genealogy.
Jeanette is survived by children, Alvina (& Wilfred) Marek of Lonsdale, Patricia (& Roman) Malecha of Hawaii, Norbert “Butch” Deutsch of Jordon, Marvin (& Kim) Deutsch of New Prague; daughters-in-law, Mary (& Rick) Bohlen of New Richland, Judy Deutsch (David Baird) of New Prague; brother, Arnie (& Ann) Schoenbauer of New Prague; sisters, Darlene Witt of New Prague, JoAnn (& Roger) Zaun of New Prague, Dorothy (& Gene) Illg of Rosemount, Elaine (& Dave) Price of Eden Prairie; 23 grandchildren, including Erin (& Dave) Streefland of Elko New Market and Emily Bartusek of Winona; 49 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husbands, Myles Bartusek on Sept 3, 1958, and Norbert Deutsch on November 13, 2000; parents; sons, Phil Bartusek and Ronald Deutsch; grandson, Levi Deutsch; great-granddaughter, Karlye Jo Deutsch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 2, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 1st from 4 – 8 PM and Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at the church cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall in New Prague. CCW rosary will be said Sunday evening at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Wenceslaus Church.
