Obituary

Janet A. Picha died Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home.  Janet was born October 6, 1940 in Cedar Lake Township to William V. & Celia M. (Cervenka) Shimota.  She attended the Montgomery Public Schools and was a lifelong resident of the New Prague area.  She married Myron W. Picha on April 30, 1960 in New Prague.  Janet worked as a seamstress for many years, making hospital gowns from her home and then in later years, made quilted heart pillow for heart patients and quilts for veterans.  She worked as a lunch lady at Falcon Ridge Elementary School in New Prague most recently.  Janet was a proud member of T.O.P.S. and was very active with the Legion Auxiliary.  She loved flower gardening and her wild birds.

Janet is survived by her children: Connie Picha of Lakeville, Duane Picha of St. Cloud Arnie Picha (& Susan Nelson) of Burnsville, Diane Picha (& Jeff Langeberg) of New Prague; 6 grandchildren; Sister: Irene (& Leo) Brown; Brother: George Shimota of Elko; Sister-in-Law: Mary Agnes Shimota of Foley.  She is preceded in death by her husband Myron on Dec. 6, 2000, her parents, 1 brother, Eugene Shimota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague.  Visitation will be held Monday, July 16 from 4 – 8 PM and Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.  Burial will take place at Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.  There will be a lunch at the Legion Clubroom following interment.
