Obituary

Janet Kocina, age 77, of New Prague, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Mala Strana Health Care Center.  Janet was born November 9, 1934 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to Joseph T. & Anna (Palma) Simon.  She was a lifelong resident of New Prague.  She worked in the housekeeping department at Queen of Peace Hospital and as a teller at the State Bank of New Prague.  Janet was an active member of St. Wenceslaus CCW, the Queen of Peace Hospital Auxiliary, and numerous card clubs.  She was known for hospitality, particularly when it came to cooking and baking and her pickled fish.  Janet thoroughly enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their sporting events.

Janet is survived by her children, Sheryl (& Mike) Skluzacek of New Prague, Carrie (& Kevin) Renville of White Bear Lake, Gregg (& Sarah) Kocina of New Prague; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on January 14, 1999; grandson, Tyler James Skluzacek; sisters, Julia Malecha, Helen Skluzacek, Delores Peterka.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father John Lapensky officiating.  Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 29 at Bruzek Funeral Home from 4 – 8 PM and on Tuesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM.  Parish prayers will be held at 8 PM Monday evening.  Burial will occur at the church cemetery and lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
