Helen Jasan, age 96, of New Prague, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Mala Strana Assisted Living in New Prague.  Helen was born on August 6, 1918 in Helena Township, Scott County, MN to Peter and Emma A. (Schoenbauer) Rech.  She graduated from New Prague High School and went on to attend Normal School training in Minneapolis.  She was a lifelong resident of New Prague and married John F. Jasan  on June 9, 1942 in Washington, DC.  Helen taught elementary school for a number of years in a 1-room Scott County District School.  She was also a partner & bookkeeper for Jasan Garment Manufacturing Company in New Prague.  Helen was active in both community and church affairs.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, New Prague Firemen’s Auxiliary, P.o.L.K.A., New Prague Historical Society, St. Wenceslaus CCW, Prayer Cenacle in Le Center, St. Wenceslaus prayer chain.  She was an active member with Card-O-Rama and the New Prague Senior Citizens, serving as the director of the center in the 1970’s – 80’s.  Helen was a world traveler as well; top priority in her life was her dedication to her family and her faith.

Helen is survived by her children, Sandy (& Mike) Hibbs of Ft. Smith, AR, Pete (& Susan) Jasan of Rogers, AR, Mike (& Charlene) Jasan of Prior Lake; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John on January 1, 1984; her parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Robert Rech; 2 sisters, Margaret Korbel and Lorraine Antony.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will occur on Monday from 5 – 8  PM and Tuesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial is at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.
