Obituary

Harry Dietz, age 96, of New Prague, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Harry was born on January 30, 1923 in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota to Frank J. and Rose (Panek) Dietz.  He graduated from New Prague High School.  In his early years he worked at the mill in Montgomery and as a mechanic for Jimmy Rutt's garage.  He married Leota Busta on October 15, 1945.  He spent his life as a farmer, who valued conservation of both the soil in his farming practices and wildlife.  He was a member of the Czech Heritage Club, the Sportsmen's Club, Twin Lakes Sportsmen's Club, and Ducks Unlimited.  Fishing was his passion in his spare time and he also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and visiting friends.

Harry is survived by his children, Russell Dietz of Montgomery, Judi Dietz of Apple Valley, & Katie Dietz of Apple Valley; sister, Ella Jahn of New Prague; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Leota on September 3, 1990; daughters, Linda & Kara Lynn; parents, Frank & Rose; brothers, Emil, Frank, Alvin, & Edward; sister, Adeline Jahn.

Services will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with visitation 2 hours prior, from 12:00 noon – 2:00 PM.  Lunch will follow the service at the Montgomery Legion.
