Gladys Nelson, age 95, of New Prague, died Saturday, August 8, 2015, surrounded by her family at Mala Strana Health Care Center.  Gladys was born October 18, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, to Clarence and Arvilla (Clark) Hans. She was raised in Palatine, IL, graduating from Palatine High School.  She lived much of her life in Gurnee, IL after marrying Oliver E. Nelson.  Gladys worked as a bookkeeper at various times, while raising her family.  She moved to New Prague 9 years ago to be closer to her son and family.  Gladys loved playing cards and the piano; she was still taking piano lessons until she moved to New Prague.

Gladys is survived by her son, Scott (& Paula) Nelson of New Prague; grandchildren, Shawn (& Alyssa) Nelson of Circle Pines, Sarah Starkey of Duluth, Kevin Nelson of Houston, TX, Tyler Starkey of Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL; great-grandchilren, Colton and Jaxson Nelson.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver in 1984; sister, Katherine Smith.
