George R. Novotny, age 85, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  George was born on July 29, 1934 in Helena Township, Scott County, MN to Wencel F. and Mary (Preslicka) Novotny.  He attended Scott County district school and was a lifelong resident of the New Prague area. George was a man dedicated to the earth and farmed all his life.  His love of farming included a lifelong hobby of collecting tractors, toy tractors, and peddle tractors, mostly Allis Chalmers.  He was also involved in tractor pulls his entire life and was the State Champion Tractor Puller in 1973.  He had over 2,000 trophies to note his efforts in tractor pulls.

George is survived by his sons, Bob (Cindy) Novotny of Balsam Lake, WI, Alan Novotny (Kris Anne Gabbard) of New Prague, Glen Novotny of New Prague; grandsons, Ben & Josh Novotny.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; sister, Adeline Pecholt.

Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service starting at 10:00 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom.
