Geoffrey P. “Geoff” Gillard, age 54, of Big Lake, MN, died suddenly on Thursday, September 29, 2016 while on the road in his truck at the Clearwater Truck Stop.  Geoff was born on August 18, 1962 in Fridley, MN to George and Shirley (Blomquist) Gillard.  He graduated from New Prague High School and then began his career as an over-the-road truck driver.  He recently became an independent contractor.  Geoff was a hard worker and well-liked by his fellow workers.  He enjoyed the travel and moving that driving truck allowed him.  His dog, Prince, was his faithful companion and travelled with him for 9 years.  Geoff loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing and loved his grandchildren.

Geoff is survived by his children, Matt Gillard (Jayda) of New Prague, Andy (Kristy) Gillard of Lonsdale, Megan (Adam) Denzer of New Prague, Kevin (Nicole) Gillard of New Prague, Mike Gillard of New Prague; sister, Kim (Jim) Mecklenburg of Big Lake; brother, Steve (Tammy) Gillard of Hudson, WI; sister-in-law & niece, Candy & Steph Gillard of Farmington; 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gregory Gillard.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 6:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Erick Thompson officiating.  The visitation will take place 2 hours prior to service beginning at 4:00 PM.
